Membership
The full Membership is offered to organisations engaged in applied maritime research and development, with a primary focus on commercial activities, and located within the European Union, candidate countries, or in the European Economic Area. The activities of the organisations should be in the maritime sector. Associate membership is open to organisations whose main activity is not research, but which nevertheless undertakes applied maritime research activity
Membership and Associated Membership is open to organisations, which: Undertake applied maritime R&D; Are active in the fields of offshore (services, resources and energy), shipbuilding and shipping - for example: in safety aspects, environment issues, design, production, hydrodynamics, ship operation, economy, nautical aspects; Have a primary focus on commercial activities; Are located in one of the European Member-, Candidate- or Economic Area- States.
Benefits of Membership
The benefits for ECMAR members include the following:
• A representative organisation in Brussels with access to the European Commission and Industry Associations to promote the interests of ECMAR members.
• Coordination of membership activities related to participation to EU activities ( Waterborne, Co-Program med Parnership, stakeholders consultations …)
• Opportunity to contribute to the development of a forward-looking maritime research and innovation policy, and to formulate ideas for EU Calls for proposals.
• Opportunities to network within ECMAR and beyond, for the development of projects.

How to Join ECMAR
Membership or Associated membership is made by formal approach to the Director, who will supply further information and the appropriate application forms. Membership fees are calculated annually and the fee is related to the size of the organisation, as shown below. Membership is open model basins, maritime research organisations and the many engineering companies and design offices, who undertake and publish their research activity or which participate in EU research projects.
Annual Membership Fees:
- < 25 employees €750
- < 100 employees €1500
- ⩾100 employees €2500
Membership applications made to the Director are considered and recommended by the Council, after which Membership takes immediate effect, with ratification by the next ECMAR General Assembly.
